TRAVELLING HERE

Travelling to the Isle of Wight is all part of the Adventure........

The moment you set sail, the holiday feeling kicks in.  Its not long before you spot the Island ahead and the mainland seems a lifetime away.

You have several choices to cross the water.  Red Funnel Ferries from Southampton, Wightlink from Portsmouth or Lymington and Hovertravel from Southsea.  Crossings range from just under an hour to 10 minutes on the hovercraft.  Both are an enjoyable way to start the holiday, whether you are bringing a car or travelling as a foot passenger (obviously the car will have to be left at home if you fancy a hovercraft experience!).

We offer discount codes for our guests travelling with Wightlink and Red Funnel by car.  Request a code after booking.

Did you know, London Waterloo is less then 2 hours from Portsmouth and Southsea by train?  Potentially you could leave the city at 5pm on a Friday and be sitting in a beachside bar enjoying a cocktail by 7.30pm.

Depending on your means of travel, once over the water, you will find yourself in either East Cowes or Cowes (if you came from Southampton), Ryde, Fishbourne or Yarmouth.

If you are on foot, the most popular option from here is the bus.  The bus service is very good, reliable and covers most of the island.

Getting to Ventnor; The number 3 bus takes you to Ventnor (direct from Ryde, or from Newport).  Ventnor has 2 bus routes, the number 3 and number 6.

Another option is the train if you arrive in Ryde.  The Island Line train service connects Ryde, Brading, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin (you would then need to get a bus or taxi if you are going to Ventnor).  The train may have a little surprise for you too.... the carriages are former London Underground trains!

Travelling without a car is a wonderful way to visit the island.  Read our blog for inspiration and tips.
